Alcantara is an Italian-made, durable faux suede with a soft, suede-like pile made from microfibres. Renowned for its exceptional durability, Alcantara is perfect for your car’s interiors — such as seating, headlining, and other panels or dashboards.
As mentioned previously, there are many different uses for Alcantara. The descriptions below highlight the main applications for each of the different types of Alcantara available:
Panel Non-FR
Unbacked Alcantara® which allows for more malleability when working with the fabric. Ideal for headlining, dashboards, and panels. It offers more give, making it easier to stretch around and manipulate — especially useful for smaller, tighter spaces such as door cards.
Panel FR
The most versatile Alcantara® of the three. With a sprayed-on black FR backing, it is slim enough to work well for panels, while still rigid enough to make excellent seating material. The FR backing gives it more structure, making it ideal for larger door cards, expansive headlinings, or seats.
Seating
Thicker than both Panel Non-FR and Panel FR, this version comes with a white cotton backing. Often referred to as “Cover,” it is the thickest and most rigid of the three types. Recommended for seating with minimal cushioning, this option is perfect for a variety of chairs and seat designs.
