For Alcantara, commitment to sustainability represents a 'value beyond cost': value for the Company, for employees, for stakeholder and for society. A value for the future.
The first Italian industrial company – and among the very first in the world, Alcantara has reached the Carbon Neutrality certification in 2009, from TÜV SÜD, and has since then developed a strong and constant commitment to sustainability, as underlined by the Company's continuous improvement processes and the numerous certifications obtained.
Being Carbon Neutral means that the entire product life cycle – not just production but usage and disposal too – generates net zero carbon emissions (from the cradle to the grave). Alcantara measures, reduces and offsets all CO2 emissions deriving from the Company’s activities and the product. The residual emissions, which the technology available today does not allow to eliminate in any other way, are offset each year through Certified and Verified Offsetting Projects, validated and proved by an accredited third party, following the application of rigorous verification processes to which all offsetting projects are subjected, designed to promote the use of renewable energy in the poorest and most disadvantaged areas of the world.
