For Alcantara, sustainability represents a 'value beyond cost': value for the Company, for employees, for stakeholder and for society. A value for the future.
Among the first companies in the world, Alcantara has reached the Carbon Neutrality certification in 2009, from TÜV SÜD, and has since then developed a strong and constant commitment to sustainability, as underlined by the Company's continuous improvement processes and the numerous certifications obtained.
Being Carbon Neutral means that the entire product life cycle – not just production but usage and disposal too – generates net zero carbon emissions (from the cradle to the grave). Alcantara measures, reduces and offsets all CO2 emissions deriving from the Company’s activities and the product. The residual emissions, which the technology available today does not allow to eliminate in any other way, are compensated every year through participation in the international offset projects patronized by the United Nations, aimed at spreading the use of renewable energy in the poorest and most disadvantaged areas of the world.
