Craftsmanship Spotlight: 13 Stitches x Early Porsche 911
We’re sure everyone can agree on the outstanding work produced by Steve at 13 Stitches for this project. The quality of craftsmanship achieved on this early Porsche 911 is second to none. The bold, bright, and beautiful colour choices instantly draw you in and perfectly capture the spirit of the car.
Steve began teaching himself upholstery in mid-2019 at his home in Petts Wood. After running a successful construction company for over 18 years, this new venture marked a major career shift. Fast forward four years, and 13 Stitches is now thriving from his home workshop in Bromley, producing work with the kind of attention to detail you’d expect from someone with over 50 years in the trade.
This Porsche project was a true collaboration between Steve and the vehicle’s owner, who visited Boyriven to carefully select the perfect materials. After exploring several options, they landed on a striking purple and orange combination — a pairing we believe captures the uniqueness of the 911 exquisitely.
Steve enjoys working with all materials, but leather remains his all-time favourite. While he primarily works on classic VWs, he’s more than happy to upholster anything with four wheels!
An ex-motocross racer with a background in bike and car bodywork, Steve knew it was time to leave the construction industry behind and follow his passion for the automotive world — and we’re so glad he did.
From all of us at Boyriven, we’re proud to have played a small part in this fantastic project, and we can’t wait to see what Steve tackles next!
