Top 5 Furniture Design Trends to Look out for in 2019

Here's our Top 5 Trends

In preparation for the swamp of new year decoration plans in January, we’ve compiled a list of the top furniture design trends for 2019; allowing you to cut through the noise and get some guidance in transforming your home, workspace or automobile into true representation of your client or company…

Small Details

When it comes to upholstery, the art is in the small details. Contrasts have had a huge impact on design recently and is set to proceed into 2019. Piping, stitching, and flagged seams used innovatively and individually to contrast against an Eco or Rush fabric – creates uniqueness and gives the furniture a look of high value.

Cosy Beds

Interestingly, beds are going to become more womb-like in shape and feel, as a retaliation to the chaotic world around us and the hecticness of our own lives. We desire to feel protected, comfortable and nurtured when sleeping or resting. This means lots of upholstered headboard and footboards, covered from head to toe in various types of materials and comfortable fabrics, to mimic the feeling of a warm embrace.

Art Deco

Art Deco’s influence is set to become more prominent in 2019, inspiring furniture silhouettes and colour pallet. Pink-tinged leather continues to be very strong, this complements beautifully the blush hue of a variety of different vinyls.

Blush Tones

Blush is the new neural, it pairs perfectly with greys such as those in our divine, oxidon and mercedes vinyl ranges as well as natural colours for a calming palette. It can be amalgamated with bold colours to allow the gallant colours to really stand out; again, contrasting colours are hugely impactful.

Handmade Pieces

With more focus placed on individuality and personalisation, as well as shopping local – furniture is moving more towards the handmade. Custom and unique pieces have a story attached them, showing both a certain passion and expertise. People invest and want to know who made it and where it came from. It is important to add a modern-merge to the quaintness of handcraft. Get that home-grown world-weary feel to your furniture with a variety of different materials such as leather, vinyl and more.
